I respect these modelers, they have a level of dedication to detail that I admire. Mind you I have no desire to be "prototypical" to these levels, but I do absolutely respect their dedication to their craft.

I have buildings made out of precision board painted with water based hobby paint from Michael's. Once dry, they are sprayed with a Krylon clear kote matte finish. I have left the buildings out for as much as 2-3 years and the fading was minimal. About every two years, I wash the buildings off, let them dry and spray them again. Works great!

Nice model to weather. Some manufacturer needs to offer the Trinity 6241 plastic pellet covered hopper. This car is probably the most popular in the real world with many reporting markings, shades of gray with a few in a beige color. Everything is made of plastic but few model railroad car representing them. Atlas has the ACF 5250, 5701 and 5800. Rapido and Scaletrains have the 5850 ribbed side Procor and Pullman Standard cars. Walthers had the NSC 6224 car. Atlas could make the ARI 6224 Center Flow. Greenbrier acquired them now but still offer the Center Flow design.

It’s so much easier to speed match locos with the Blunami. It’s awesome they now make a 21 pin Blunami decoder.

A few weeks ago, I got one of these for $30 as a project car. As a BN modeler, I'm going to graffiti the car to cover the safety stipping and change out the coupler for some kd ones and may do photoetched walkways since you mentioned it.

Hello, I'm from Ukiah, CA and have watched many of your videos. I am watching and trying to do an install on my own Bachmann Climax, it's a newer version. I have everything hooked up except the battery part. For the life of me I cannot figure out where to hook the battery to the decoder. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos.

Blunami is SO incredibly easy to program! Really love that I don’t have to spend so much time going through CV’s, just read what it is and change what is needed.

Great video, especially the programming section! I started my journey to get back into model railroading about 4 years ago and was almost immediately derailed (pun intended) by "real life". I am still in that stuck mode, but I have been able to use my time to greatly refine my track planning and do a lot of learning, and part of that is finding out about Bluenami decoders. As a person who doesn't want to spend tons of time on building my own DCC system or doing extensive wiring, this is a perfect solution and I love the simplicity. And this is one of my three already-purchased locomotives, complete with a tutorial! :-) I will definitely be following this to upgrade my SW1500 once my build gets back on-track! Thank you for sharing!

Nice catch and cool loco and what type is it? It looks wired a 2-16-1? (Correct me on that if I’m not) tank engine. That is wired looking tank engine. And keep going and keep catching these wired but unique trains. 🚂 🎉 hope you have a good day

I saw ten stall engine round house being torn down in the 1980's in Carson City. The city was to cheap to buy it and restore it.

I use mainly code 100 in HO bacause I also run older scale locomotives (models built 70+ years ago) that sometimes have larger flanges depending on the Manfacturer

Nice product info and product itself (themselves?) look great! I wish I had learned more from my father back then - he worked for the NYC and PC as a machinist, and was a walking encyclopedia on wheels and brake systems. When there was a wreck he was called out to inspect the wheels and brakes on what had wrecked before it was moved. Of course he also had to help with cleanup - he had stories. I know wheelsets have changed since his days (1940s through 1970s) but still, he would've absorbed the changes into his brain. He told me how they set a tire on steam locomotives! Such human innovations over the years!

Imagine an SD70MAC, but it’s a Cowl unit. So an SDF70MAC. I would like that to be real.

I believe WP's SW 1500's came with the single chime horn but then was changed to a Nathan M5 which was the usual WP Horn, engine sounded more like a GP40 than a SW1500.

Western pacific only had 3 of the SW500 numbered 1501 to 1503. The engine is a 12 cyl-645E. On one of Charles Smiley's dvd's it shows one of them working in San Francisco around the piers. Nice install.

Hey John, that was a great tutorial on the install. So, you’re using the Blunami to do the decoding and to change the sounds but you’re using the track for power? I thought that Blunami made it so the train could run on dead rail. Am I mixing up two different things or is it capable of running both ways?

This is a beautiful, incredibly detailed N scale layout. Thank you, John, for featuring this video on your channel. It inspires me as an N scale modeler of both SP and ATSF. Santa Fe remains my favorite railway of all time, but SP comes in as a close 2nd and is also held very dear to my heart. Both lines served the small Orange County town where I grew up in the 1960s.

Thanks to your video I bought one of the last available 50' sets and needless to say it looks amazing on a Golden West Service (GVSR) bulkhead flatcar from Wheels of Time
